  1. It seems like the schools now close around Northeastern Pennsylvania when it flurries, is cold, and the prediction is for snow or freezing rain or ice. I know they are afraid of law suits, but it has gotten ridiculous. First of all, they are taking the meteorologists word for it that something will happen. Second, I don't know why the buses carry chains when they never even have to think of using them.

Parents are a pain in the classroom. They never listen to the teacher's side of any story and they always have an excuse for their child. Teachers have become their slaves. I like the stories I used to get at parent conferences that their child could read perfectly at home when they did "pecking" reading at school and couldn't sound out the word moo. I do understand that children can know their math facts at home and not be able to tackle the "timed" tests at school because my grandson does this. He can figure the facts out when there is no pressure, but apparently can't do them when hurried.

I don't know about you, but I have not spent my life taking tests. That's what the schools are expected to do now and that doesn't prepare you for life. I don't think anyone can prepare you for the "surprises" of life, but something besides tests could give you the tools to solve things. I think encouraging creativity would help with problem solving.

Keep working on the diet issue and us about any success you have.
