I don't want Robin Williams death to make him a poster child to obtain more money for suicide prevention. He was a talented person and deserves to be honored. As we have discovered in the days following his death, there was much more to the story.
ReplyDeleteBeing an educator for 35 years, I know that no matter what they put in place, it won't help make the teachers or students better. In fact it will, as Bart said, give teachers no time to actually teach. We need to go back to creativity and making students want to learn. I have always believed that if you don't have parent support, there is no way to make students learn or do well on tests. We have let the parents take control of policies because they either take their children out to homeschool them or threaten to sue. It used to be that the teacher was honored and parents backed them up. Not any more.
It seems like there is no solution to gun control. It seems like the race issues are going back to the drawing board. What is causing the tension after many years of working to make everyone equal?
