ReplyDeleteA microburst struck in the Athens and Sayre area on Saturday, Aug. 12, destroying the outer roof of a residence and uprooting trees, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
ReplyDeleteThe NWS at Binghamton described the microburst in a Public Information Statement that it issued at 2:44 p.m. on Sunday.
The microburst, which had wind speeds of up to 90 mph, hit Athens Township by the old Blue Swan Airport at 6 p.m., and it then traveled in an easterly/southeasterly direction, the NWS said.
The microburst, which lasted five minutes, affected an area 3.5 miles long and a half-mile wide. We wondered if your area was hit by a tornado or this.
